Strategic Framework Agreement 2008
TOGETHER FOR EQUALITY
In the frames of the project Promoting the concept of anti-discrimination in the country, implemented by Polio Plus and supported by the Spillover Monitoring Mission of OSCE in Skopje, on 19.12.2006 in Hotel Continental, a round table was held on topic Towards equal opportunities for all. At this round table, representatives of the governmental institutions, representatives of the sensitive groups, of non-governmental organizations, of expertise and academic publicity, operating in the field of protection of human rights and protection from discrimination, were present.
Considering the conclusions of the round table, the inevitable need for creating space for information exchange and coordination among all of us, Polio Plus with the support from OSCE, made a commitment to ensure technical support in the process of creating a Body for information exchange and space for further joint action.
This Coordinative Body should contribute in the democratic processes in the country and in the rule of law, by promoting the concept for protection from discrimination through a joint action of all relevant stakeholders in the Macedonian society. The Coordinative Body, through a serial of round tables, will also be an effective mechanism for information exchange and dialogue. As part of the support in the process, the www.equal.org.mk web-site is created; it serves as a support in the process of collecting comments, on the prepared document (based on the conclusions), Strategic directions for joint action in the development of the concept of anti-discrimination in the country, from the wider publicity.
Together with You, we can develop these directions and leave them in form of an open document for discussion, so that till the end of 2007th, European year of equal opportunities for all – towards just society, we could prepare a Strategic framework for joint action to combat discrimination in Macedonia. This Body should be the beginning of a continuous cooperation, which is why the participation of all representatives of the relevant institutions / organizations, from the very beginning is of a great importance.
The Coordinative Body will work on:
Development of the concept of anti-discrimination
Promotion of anti-discrimination legislation
Initiating institutional framework for support of human rights
Activities to be focused on:
Collecting and disseminating of information
Developing methods
Research and support for surveys
